Play On Podcasts' first episode of Kenneth Cavender’s The Tempest starring Jay O. Sanders (Girl From the North Country) in the leading role of Prospero drops April 10.

Andy Wolk, its director, said, “In 1611, Shakespeare ventured into a territory he had never gone before, writing a wholly original play—The Tempestabout someone who could be him: A playwright manipulating characters, stage managing spectacle, and spinning a fantastic story of love and revenge.”

Additional titles for this year will be announced at a later date.

This podcast-meets-audio-play series features Shakespeare's text translated into modern verse. Previously, the Play on Podcasts Series has retold a number of Shakespeare classics, including A Midsummer Night's Dream, King Lear, Measure for Measure, and notably, a Macbeth series which starred RuPaul's Drag Race Stars Manila Luzon, Monet X Change, and Peppermint. The series released The Winter's Tale at the end of last year and has announced plans to present Othello later this year.
