Alfonso Ribeiro (The Tap Dance Kid, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) will host the 43rd annual edition of the PBS concert A Capitol Fourth, which will be broadcast live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol July 4 beginning at 8 PM ET.
The evening will feature the talents of Tina Tony winner Adrienne Warren, who will pay tribute to the late Tina Turner; the Broadway company of A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical, featuring Will Swenson and Robyn Hurder; opera star Renée Fleming; the rock-and-roll band Chicago; Grammy-winning R&B group Boyz II Men; Go-Go's co-founder and lead vocalist Belinda Carlisle; 12-time Grammy winner Babyface; country duo Maddie & Tae; artist-songwriter Charles Esten; and Sesame Street's Elmo and Cookie Monster.
Performers will be backed by the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of pops conductor Jack Everly.
The celebration will also feature NASA astronauts Frank Rubio, Steve Bowen, and Woody Hoburg; a tribute to America’s nurses with a performance by the inspirational front-line workers Northwell Nurse Choir; and a patriotic musical medley featuring The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” during the fireworks display.
Also participating in the event will be the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, Members of the Armed Forces carrying the State and Territorial Flags, the Armed Forces Color Guard provided by the Military District of Washington, D.C., the Choral Arts Society of Washington, and Patrick Lundy & The Ministers of Music.
The Independence Day celebration will also be available for streaming at PBS.org.
