A film capture of Mike Birbiglia's most recent Broadway show, The Old Man and the Pool, will stream globally on Netflix beginning November 21. The comedian's solo show ran at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center October 28, 2022–January 15, 2023. It officially opened November 13. See the trailer above. 

In The Old Man and the Pool, Birbiglia's second Broadway solo show, the comedian and storyteller talks about life, death, and visits to the doctor's office and the YMCA pool. His previous Broadway show, The New One, is also a Netflix special. 

Birbiglia's frequent collaborator Seth Barrish directs the work, written and performed by Birbiglia, with contributions from story consultant Ira Glass (This American Life). Mike Birbiglia: The Old Man and the Pool was originally produced by Center Theatre Group, making its world premiere at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles in 2022, following a developmental run at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. It played a West End run in 2023. 

The play's creative team also includes set designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designer Toni-Leslie James, lighting designer Aaron Copp, sound designer Kai Harada, and projection designer Hana S. Kim.
