BroadwayHD will debut never-before-streamed filmed stage performances of Sasha Regan's take on Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore and Broken Wings: The Musical September 22.
Director Regan's re-imagined H.M.S. Pinafore features an all-male company for the satirical comedy about love and social class out at sea. Sam Kipling plays Josephine, the daughter of Captain Corcoran, who wants her to marry Sir Joseph Porter, played by Juan Jackson and David McKechnie, respectively. Josephine's heart, however, picks lower-class sailor Ralph Rackstraw, played by Danny Becker.
Broken Wings: The Musical takes audiences to turn-of-the-century Beirut to follow poet Kahlil Gibran's autobiographical story of tragic love. Based on Gibran’s 1912 work, the musical follows young Gibran, who returns to the Middle East from the United States and falls in love with Selma; the couple fight to reconcile their love while navigating the rules, traditions, and expectations of society. West End alum Nadim Naaman (The Phantom of the Opera) penned the musical's book, music, and lyrics, with music and lyrics by Dana Al Fardan. Bronagh Lagan directed the production, which features orchestrations by Joe Davison.
