Tony-winning set designer Beowulf Boritt (The Piano Lesson, POTUS, Flying Over Sunset) gives a reading from his new book Transforming Space Over Time: Set Design and Visual Storytelling with Broadway's Legendary Directors at The Drama Book Shop October 11 at 7 PM.
Peabody winner Elliott Forrest hosts a discussion after the reading between Boritt and fellow book collaborators, the Tony-winning directors James Lapine (Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George) and Susan Stroman (The Producers, Contact).
Transforming Space Over Time goes inside five Broadway productions and one Off-Broadway production from the moment Boritt received the job offer through conceptual development and challenges faced to putting it on the stage. He gives insights into his conversations and collaborations with industry favorites such as James Lapine, Kenny Leon, Hal Prince, Susan Stroman, Jerry Zaks, and Stephen Sondheim.
