Industry readings of the new musical Don’t Call Me John!—a love letter to the industrial musicals of the 1950s and '60s—will be presented June 23 and 24 at Open Jar Studios in Manhattan.

Directed by Christine O'Grady, the cast will feature Tony nominees Jeannette Bayardelle (Girl From the North Country) and Sean Allan Krill (Jagged Little Pill) as well as Alexandra Socha (Head Over Heels), Ben Moss (Oratorio for Living Things), Stephen Carlile (The Lion King), Jeigh Madjus (Moulin Rouge), and Cheryl Stern (La Cage aux Folles) with Angel Lozada, Barrie Lobo McLain, Onyie Nwachukwu, and Alan Wiggins.

Don't Call Me John! has an original book by Chris Recker, music by Ben Moss, and lyrics by Tony Oblen. Set in 1969, the musical comedy concerns songwriter Bernie Taylor, hired to write an industrial musical for Liberty Bathrooms (America’s leading toilet manufacturer), and her co-writer, industrial musical veteran Peter Broman, who only seems interested in salvaging his own career.

The readings will also have music direction by Ben Moss, associate music direction by Jane Cardona, and stage management by Roe Manzo. Casting is by Stewart/Whitley's Benton Whitley.
