MCC's Off-Broadway premiere of Space Dogs has added a final evening performance to its closing weekend, set for 7:30 PM March 20. The announcement also teased that both Sunday performances will be recorded, inviting audience members to "[be] a part of the studio experience and in on the secret."

The new musical, written by and starring Van Hughes (Burn All Night) and Nick Blaemire (Glory Days), tells the story of Laika, a stray dog sent into space by a Russian scientist during the Cold War. The twice-extended production completes its run March 20.

Hughes and Blaemire add to their performances of human characters using an assortment of puppets, stuffed animals, and instruments to tell the story. They also recently produced the original cast album with executive producer Kurt Deutsch. It is now available through Ghostlight Records.

The creative team includes director Ellie Heyman, scenic designer Wilson Chin, costume designer Haydee Zelideth Atuñano, lighting designer Mary Ellen Stebbins, sound designer Nathan Leigh, projection designers Stefania Bulbarella and Alex Basco Koch, puppet and props designer Amanda Villalobos, choreographer Darrell Grand Moultrie, and production stage manager Katherine Wallace. Noah Kieserman is the production's understudy, and casting is by The Telsey Office's Geoff Josselson.
