Kowalski, a new play exploring the first meeting between Tennessee Williams and Marlon Brando by Gregg Ostrin, will premiere in New York early next year.
Directed by Colin Hanlon, the play will begin performances at The Duke on 42nd Street January 12, 2025, and run through February 16.
Starring Robin Lord Taylor as Williams and Brandon Flynn as Brando, the play transports audiences to the pivotal meeting that changed theatrical history, as well as exploring the tangled relationships and creative tensions surrounding Williams as he crafts his masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire. Set in a 1947 Provincetown beach house, the play unfolds over one sultry night as Williams, director Margo Jones (Alison Cimmet), Pancho Rodriguez (Sebastian Treviño), and a young Brando (Brandon Flynn) unravel together.
The creative team will include costume designer Lisa Zinni, scenic designer David Gallo, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, sound designer Bill Toles, movement specialist Nancy Renee Braun, casting director Stephen DeAngelis, and general managemer Aaron Grant Theatrical. Kowalski is produced by Helm Capital/Jeffrey Sherman, Nathan Hughes, Karl E. Held, Willette & Manny Klausner and Faried Assad.
