Off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre has announced full casting, dates, and a creative team for Beckett Briefs, a collection of three short plays by Samuel Beckett. Performances will run January 15-March 9, with an official opening January 26. Ciarán O'Reilly is set to direct.
As previously reported, the cast will include Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus). Joining him will be Roger Dominic Casey (Aristocrats), Kate Forbes (A Touch of the Poet), and Sarah Street (Molly Sweeney).
Beckett Briefs includes three plays: Not I, featuring Street as a non-verbal woman abandoned by her parents at birth. At the age of 70, she suddenly hears voices and realizes she is speaking. Casey, Forbes, and Street will star in Play, which follows a man, his wife, and his mistress relaying the details of their love triangle in the afterlife. Finally, Abraham will lead Krapp's Last Tape as Krapp, an aged man who reviews his life with the assistance of autobiographical tape recordings from his younger self.
The production will feature scenic design by Charlie Corcoran (On Beckett), costume design by Orla Long (The Beacon), lighting design by Michael Gottlieb (A Child’s Christmas in Wales), sound design by M. Florian Staab (Philadelphia, Here I Come!), and sound design and original music by Tony winner Ryan Rumery (Stereophonic). Jeff Davolt (The Dead, 1904) will be the production stage manager, and Shanna Allison (The Saviour) will be the assistant stage manager.
