Cabaret & Concert News Revisit Gerome Ragni and Galt MacDermot's Dude in 50th Anniversary Concert at 54 Below October 16

Original cast members reunite to celebrate the duo's follow-up to Hair.

DUDE: A 50th Anniversary Celebration takes the stage October 16 at 7 PM to celebrate the short-lived 1972 Gerome Ragni and Galt MacDermot musical. Original cast members Ralph Carter (Raisin) and Allan Nicholls (Hair) reunite for the one-night-only performance at 54 Below.

Ragni and MacDermot wrote Dude following their Broadway hit Hair, and it played 16 performances before closing on Broadway. The coming-of-age rock musical explores classic themes of good and evil, gods and men, with book and lyrics by Ragni and music by MacDermot. With permission from the MacDermot estate, the 54 Below concert marks a rare presentation of the work that only played 16 performances before closing on Broadway.

Produced and directed by Margaret Hall, author of Gemignani: Life and Lessons from Broadway and Beyond, the cast features Kalonjee Gallimore (A Beautiful Noise), Analise Rios (Rent), Nic Mains (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Tymothee Harrell, Mia Williams, Ali Regan, Rachel Lloyd, and Joshua Kukafka, as well as surprise guests.

Ben Covello serves as music director, in addition to playing piano alongside Nate Repasz on drums, Gene Taylor on bass, and Eitan Prouser on guitar.
