Tony-honored non-profit Broadway Advocacy Coalition will present a fundraiser titled What Now: Unplugged at DROM July 24. The interactive music event will be hosted by Zhailon Levingston (Chicken and Biscuits) and Jerrie Johnson (Harlem) beginning at 7:30 PM.
Described as a "music jam session meets community organizing brainstorm meets late night party," industry members will create original music that explores the future path that they want theatre to take. Broadway Advocacy Coalition is working with the Liberation Band on the evening, which will star The Bengsons, Starr Busby, Denise Manning, Nora Schell, Sierra Lancaster, Tiffany Mann, Tyler R. Lewis, and UGBA. The Liberation Band will include Malachi Mabson, Paul Johnson, David Kawamura, and Josh Roberts.
What Now: Unplugged's mission is to engage the community in organizing and taking action to create change and make Broadway equitable for performers of color and members of several other communities. Members will be encouraged to collaborate and share how they are directly impacted by inequity, gather data, and inspire next steps in advocacy and activism.

Through the creation of original music and captivating performances, we amplify the essence of artistry, allowing individuals to express their unique perspectives and stories.”
Brown originally came up with the idea, and is co-producing with Brandon Michael Nase.
