Public workshop performances of Avalona, A Musical Legend will be presented January 14-17, 2025, at 7:30 PM at the SPSA Theater on W. 86th St.
Directed by Dodd Loomis, the cast will feature Jenna Rubaii (Groundhog Day), Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages), Maya Days (Rent), Madeline Serrano, and Dina Fanai with ensemble members Lavy Cavaliere, Morgan Andrews, Alyssa Rose Bulin, Jamal Shu, Jordann Stoute, Kaori Hiwasa, and Jacob Nahor. Understudies include Kalie Kaimann, JaQuita May, Dan Domenech, Sofia Gaglia, and Danielle Bowen.
Conceived and created by recording artist, songwriter, producer, and storyteller Fanai, Avalona invites audiences into an immersive, multi-genre experience of song, storytelling, dance, and 3D digital projections. This original parable for adults, press notes state, "blends the poetic mysticism of Rumi with the transformative insights of Campbell’s The Power of Myth."
The workshop is executive produced by Bob Kinkel, who also provides musical direction, with choreography by Natalie Lomonte and casting by Chloe Lowery.
Pre-recorded tracks are produced by Fanai and Kinkel and will be accompanied by live musicians, including Dave Eggar on cello and Chuck Palmer on percussion.
Tickets start at $35 and are available via EventBrite.
