Off-Broadway's 59E59 Theaters has announced more shows for its upcoming winter and spring seasons. Currently presenting Off Peak, The Journey of Jazz, and Ye Bear & Ye Cubb through the end of 2022, 59E59 is rounding out its previously announced shows for after the new year.
Three additional productions have been announced for its winter season, including Jessica Owens' Shedding Load, about a Bushwick family rebuilding their dreams after their store is burned down during a 1977 New York City blackout. The Varsity Theatre Company presents the work February 2-18. Sophie Weisskoff's Brainsmash, presented by The Hearth March 2-19, explores life after a traumatic brain injury under the direction of Emma Miller.
The shows join 59E59's winter programming, which already features Drama Desk-winning and puppet-filled The Immortal Jellyfish Girl (January 10-February 12). Origin's 1st Irish Festival will kick off with two productions: Eugene O'Brien's Heaven (January 11-29), which takes a look at an Irish couple's marriage and is presented by Fishamble: The New Play Company; and a staging of Zoe Seaton's horror comedy Frankenstein's Monster is Drunk and the Sheep Have all Jumped the Fences (January 11-28) from Big Telly Theatre Company.

Newly announced for the spring, BD Wong will direct comedian July Gold's one-woman show Yes, I Can Say That! (March 4-April 16), presented by Primary Stages. Next will be David Anzuelo's coming-of-age story Dia Y Noche set in 1984 Texas (March 18-April 15). Carlos Armesto will direct the LAByrinth Theater Company production. Arlene Hutton's According to the Chorus (March 23-April 15) rounds out the current line-up. The New Light Theater Project and The Journey Company present the funny work about the struggles of—and between—a group of 1980s Broadway chorus girls and dressers, set against the backdrop of women's issues and the AIDS crisis.
