Katey Sagal (The Connors, Sons of Anarchy) has joined the cast for The Gospel According to Heather, set to make make its Off-Broadway debut beginning June 14 at Theater 555. Opening June 22 and playing through July 9, The Gospel According to Heather is a new musical from Tony nominee Paul Gordon (Daddy Long Legs).
Heather Krebs has a lot to navigate: high school, finding a boyfriend, and maybe being the new Messiah. In her small Ohio hometown, Heather and her community have to grapple with politics, religion, and teenage romance in this new pop musical.
Sagal joins the previously announced cast which stars Lauren Elder (Hair), Badia Farha (School of Rock), Jeremy Kushnier (Atomic, Footloose), Brittany Nicole Williams (The Prom), Darron Hayes (Notes From Now), Wayne Wilson, Maria Habeeb, Maya Lagerstam, and Carson Stewart. The understudies will be Armando Gutierrez, Georgia Kate Haege, Zach Rand, and Sarita Amani Nash. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Rachel Klein will direct and choreograph the productions which will feature music direction by Jonathan Bauerfeld, music supervision by Jodie Moore, set design by Christopher and Justin Swader, lighting design by Jamie Roderick, costume design by Sawaan Tiwari, sound design by Sean Hagerty, and props design by Brendan McCann. Casting is by Stephanie Klapper Casting.
The Gospel According to Heather is presented by Amas Musical Theatre in association with Jim Kierstead, Broadway Factor, Linda Karn, and David Bryant.
