Beginning June 17, Carl Grose's Robin Hood: The Legend. Rewritten. will share its take on the classic folk hero with audiences at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in London. Set to open June 23 and play through July 22, the production has announced its full cast and creative team for the upcoming engagement.
Starring in the production will be Charlotte Beaumont as Little Joan, Nandi Bhebhe as The Balladeer/Jenny, Stephanie Marion Fayerman as Betty, Dave Fishley as Bob Much, Samuel Gosrani as Will Scatlocke, TJ Holmes as Brasswilt/Robin Hood, Paul Hunter as The King, Katherine Manners as Simpkins, Shaun Yusuf McKee as Brokebrick/Robin Hood, Alex Mugnaioni as Baldwyn, Simon Oskarsson as Boneweather/Robin Hood, Ellen Robertson as Marian, Dumile Sibanda as Woodnut, Ira Mandela Siobhan as Gisburne, and Elexi Walker as Mary Tuck. They will be joined by Amena Alicia El-Kindy, Taya Ming, and Marta Miranda.
Along with the cast, the full creative team has been revealed. Melly Still will direct with Mike Ashcroft serving as movement director, John Bulleid as illusion designer, Joley Cragg as musical director, Emma Laxton as sound designer, Ingrid Mackinnon as intimacy coordinator, Jenny Moore as composer and musical supervisor, Jeannette Nelson as voice and text director, Deirdre O'Halloran as dramaturg, Zoe Spurr as lighting designer, Chiara Stephenson as set designer, and Samuel Wyer as costume designer. Casting is by Polly Jerrold.
Robin Hood: The Legend. Rewritten. puts a new spin on the folk hero's story. In a divided kingdom where the sheriff holds the power and being cunning is the only way to outwit him, trickery and truth collide in this version of the classic tale.
The London venue begins performances for its 2023 season today with Once on This Island, with further productions including Chinonyerem Odimba's adaptation of Every Leaf A Hallelujah by Ben Okri (May 22-June 10), Jennifer Tang's kid-friendly re-imagining of The Tempest, La Cage aux Folles musical (July 29-September 16), and Dinosaur World Live (August 11-September 3).
