Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) will star as Lois Lane in James Gunn's new film Superman: Legacy. The DC Studios movie will also feature David Corenswet (Hollywood, The Politician) as Clark Kent, according to Variety.

The upcoming film, based on the classic comic, will primarily be an origin story set in the office of the fictional newspaper The Daily Planet, where Kent and Lane work. Gunn penned the screenplay based on the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. He will also direct the film, which is set to be released July 11, 2025.

Brosnahan currently stars on Broadway in the revival of The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window. Fellow stage and screen star Amy Adams, seen in the outdoor staging of Into the Woods at the Public's Delacorte, previously played Lois Lane in the DC franchise in 2013-2017.

Peter Safran will serve as producer of Superman: Legacy.
