Off-Broadway's The Tank will present the world premiere in 2023.

Chad Pierre Vann, Fig Chilcott, and Frank Zwally

The previously announced world premiere of Modern Swimwear by Caitlin Saylor Stephens (When We Went Electronic) has found its stars. Presented by The Tank, the new play will begin performances Off-Broadway beginning January 19, 2023 and will open January 20. The run will play through February 12.

Modern Swimwear tells the story of the life and murder of swimwear designer Sylvie Cachay, who was found dead in an overflowing bathtub at a New York City members-only club in 2010. The play follows Cachay as she prepares for an important pitch and the conflict that arises between her and her troubled boyfriend Nick as he tries to become the center of her attention.

Starrring as Sylvie Cachay will be Fig Chilcott (72 Miles to Go) alongside Frank Zwally (Manifest) as Nick and Chad Pierre Vann (Antony and Cleopatra) as Staffer.

Meghan Finn (DOOMOCRACY) will direct the production, which will feature dramaturgy by Amauta Marston-Firmino (Slave Play), a design installation co-created by Yasmin Santana and Christopher and Justin Swader, with props and costumes by Patricia Marjorie (You Will Get Sick), and lighting design by Sarah Johnston (Sun & Sea).

Modern Swimwear is one of four shows making their world premieres at The Tank in 2023 as part of its winter and spring Core Production series.
