Times may be hard, but there is still joy to be found, even after a long week. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a moment of emotional release. Welcome to Playbill's Feel Good Friday feature.
Today we've got the giggles going through Jack Plotnick's Instagram where he's been reposting some of his old holiday sketch comedy videos.
If you aren't super familiar with Plotnick, he directed and co-wrote the book for the Broadway musical Disaster! with Seth Rudetsky (so that should give you a clue that his sense of humor is...off kilter). In the video above, "Theater on a Trash Heap: A Christmas Carol," Plotnick plays an actor presenting a one-person Christmas Carol atop a pile of trash furniture on the sidewalk.
But wait! That's not all, Plotnick creates a lot of sketch videos with Tom Lenk. The two L.A. actors appeared together many moons ago in Buffy Vampire Slayer, but Broadway audiences may recognize Lenk from his stint as Franz in Rock of Ages, a role he originated in the Las Vegas and Los Angeles productions. Below, they sing a little carol.
Speaking of little carols...Plotnick's bizarre sketch with a caroling doll is giving us fits. (Slip those headphones on, the language is NSFW.)
Plotnick's YouTube channel is totally worth a visit. He's got a series of "audition" videos for shows like Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Doubtfire. And his entire vintage Disney series is beyond compare; he's taken Disney Studio documentaries from the 1960s and inserted himself as the women in the workshop who designed a lot of the ride interiors. ("Disney Made a Tiki Room" is a favorite.)
Have a great weekend, and check back next Friday for another feel good feature.
