Josh Breckenridge, currently battening down the hatches in the ensemble of the Avett Brothers musical Swept Away at Broadway's Longacre Theatre, is taking over Playbill's Instagram December 21. Make sure you're following @playbill to follow along on a two-show day at the new musical.
The musical began previews October 29 and officially opened November 19, with Michael Mayer at the helm. The show will give its final performance December 29.
Featuring songs by the folk-rock group and a book by John Logan, the musical had initially announced a closing date of December 15, only for a surge in ticket sales to give the show an extra two weeks on the Main Stem.
Leading the cast are Tony winner John Gallagher Jr. (Spring Awakening) as Mate, Stark Sands (Kinky Boots) as Big Brother, Adrian Blake Enscoe (Dickinson) as Little Brother, and Wayne Duvall (1984) as Captain, all reprising their performances from the musical's earlier mountings at Berkeley Repertory and Arena Stage.
