The pair, who performed together on Broadway in The Lion King, reunite to sing a duet in the animated spinoff.

New episodes from season three of Disney Junior’s animated series The Lion Guard, a spinoff of The Lion King, will become available on the DisneyNOW app beginning August 3. In "Journey of Memories," Tony winner Heather Headley and Tony nominee Christopher Jackson—who performed together in the original Broadway production of The Lion King—reunite as guest stars.

The duo voice Makini the mandrill's parents, Fikiri and Kitendo, and sing a song titled "As You Move Forward." Take an exclusive sneak peek in the video; Landry Bender (Fuller House) voices the role of Makini.

In The Lion Guard, Kion, the son of Simba, leads a group of friends, known as the Lion Guard, whose mission is protect the Pride Lands. Season 3 will debut with a 44-minute special titled “Battle for the Pride Lands” on Disney Junior, immediately followed by a rollout of new episodes from the season on the DisneyNOW app (to air later this fall on Disney Junior).

In "Journey of Memories," The Lion Guard must rely on Makini's memories of her first visit to the Tree of Life with her parents to venture across a vast desert and continue on their journey.

The Lion Guard voice cast includes Rob Lowe as Simba, Gabrielle Union as Nala, Max Charles as Kion, Joshua Rush as Bunga, Atticus Shaffer as Ono, Diamond White as Fuli, and Dusan Brown as Beshte.

The series was developed by Ford Riley (Special Agent Oso) who also serves as executive producer. Howy Parkins (Jake and the Never Land Pirates) is supervising director and co-executive producer, and Emmy Award nominees Christopher Willis (Mickey Mouse) and Beau Black (Mickey and the Roadster Racers) are the series' composer and singer-songwriter, respectively.
