DESCRIPTION

SEEKING SONGS FOR THE ICONOCLASTIC VOICES NEW WORKS SERIES

Songs of Resistance

Attention musical theatre songwriters!

The Iconoclast Theatre Collective is seeking new works from songwriters for its inaugural new works series: Iconoclastic Voices: Songs of Resistance, to be performed at The Green Room 42. We are looking for songs (submissions from new musicals in development or stand alone songs are both welcome) that have never been performed in front of a paying audience. Seeking submissions from writers and composers that speak to the current moment, working with themes including: songs of survival, strength, perseverance, and community. Writers may submit up to three songs if they have multiple options that fit the theme.

Art has been a method of speaking truth to power since the beginning of time, and, in this tradition, we hope to stir the brazen, iconoclastic spirit within our community to raise our voices in Songs of Resistance!

We invite musical theatre writers with songs that have never been performed in front of a paying audience to submit their songs with a short explanation about how their piece embodies the theme of the event HERE. Submission deadline is Monday, 3/17 at 11:59pm.

We will provide:

1. A slot to debut your song in our concert series in NYC
2. Rehearsal studio space for a run through of your song
3. Soundcheck at The green Room 42
4. A pianist (if needed)
5. A video recording of your song to share as you wish

You provide:

1. A song you'd like to debut
2. The performers you want to perform this song

All submissions that fit in with the theme are welcome, but we would especially encourage writers from the vulnerable communities to submit.
