The Crown's Peter Morgan explores the fall of the Soviet Union with Tom Hollander and Will Keen reprising their roles from a sold-out run at Almeida Theatre.

Transferring from a sold-out run at Almeida TheatrePatriots by Peter Morgan begins its limited West End engagement at Noël Coward Theatre May 26. Officially set to open June 6, the play will run for 12 weeks through August 19.

Reprising their roles are BAFTA winner Tom Hollander as Boris Berezovsky, Will Keen as Vladimir Putin (for which he previously won an Olivier), Luke Thallon (Albion) as Roman Abramovich, Matt Concannon as Assistant/Daniel Kahneman/Russian Captain, Ronald Guttman as Professor Perelman, Sean Kingsley as Voloshin /Nurse, Paul Kynman as Korzhakov/Yeltsin/FSB Boss/Reporter/Bodyguard, and Jessica Temple as Anna Berezovsky/Newscaster/Journalist/ Secretary/Pianist. They are joined by new cast members Josef Davies as Alexander Litvinenko, Ashley Gerlach as Lawyer/Home Office, Howard Gossington as Teacher/Compromised Newscaster, Stefanie Martini as Marina Litvinenko/Nina Berezovsky, and Evelyn Miller as Tatiana/Katya/Judge/Lover. 

Serving as understudies are Peter Eastland, Lydia Fraser, and Matt McClure.

Exploring the fall of the Soviet Union, Patriots takes place in 1992 and portrays the real-life story of ambition and betrayal through businessman Berezovsky's journey from the president's confidant to public enemy. 

The work's playwright Peter Morgan is best known for serving as the creator and showrunner of Netflix's The Crown. Director Rupert Goold helms the West End run's creative team featuring set designer Miriam Buether, co-costume designers Deborah Andrews and Miriam Buether, lighting designer Jack Knowles, sound designer and composer Adam Cork, and movement director Polly Bennett. Robert Sterne is casting director.

The play won the Critics’ Circle Award for Best New Play for its premiere, and is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions and the Almeida Theatre.
