On the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has released another performance video from its 29th annual Broadway Bares installment.
Paying tribute to #Stonewall50, choreographer John Alix, recording artist and activist Mila Jam and actor Gabriel Hyman led peaceful and empowered protests honoring Stonewall in Broadway Bares: Take Off, celebrating the activists who paved the way for the future of the LGBTQ+ community.
Watch the video above, featuring Gabriel Hyman and Mila Jam with Casey Bagnall, David Gamboa, Mary-Angela Granberry, Justin Keats, Glen Llanes, Paul Romero Jr., Celia Mei Rubin, Mimi Scardulla, Morgan Unger, Alec Varcas, Cesar Villavicencio, and Samy Nour Younes.
Over 150 Broadway dancers—and a parade of special guests such as Pose and Kinky Boots star Billy Porter, Glee and Once on This Island’s Alex Newell, and Mean Girls Tony nominee Ashley Park—stripped down for a good cause June 16 as part of Broadway Bares: Take Off, at Hammerstein Ballroom.
The annual benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS raised a record $2,006,192 this year, with acts celebrating global cultures and festivals, as well as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots.
