May 10: "The Killing" and "Garden State" star Peter Sarsgaard, who also has numerous theatrical credits, tries his hand at one of Shakespeare’s most famous characters in Hamlet at Classic Stage Company. Director Austin Pendleton helms the contemporary take on the classic play.
May 10: Combining the talents of Jenny Schwartz and Todd Almond has produced the fun, quirky and ultimately lovable new musical comedy Iow@, about a mother and daughter trying to navigate their relationship, Facebook and new romances. Watch nine-year-old Kolette Tethetlow from the show perform the soaring anthem "I Am a Hawk."
May 24: Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway stars in the acclaimed solo play Grounded. Tony winner Julie Taymor directs this emotionally impacting and impressive production at the Public Theater. OPENING:
April 30: The acclaimed Fiasco Theater, who brought Into the Woods to Roundabout Theater Company earlier this year, now offer Shakespeare's romantic comedy The Two Gentlemen of Verona in downtown Brooklyn at Theatre for a New Audience. Performances are set to run through May 24.
May 5: The Public Theater's Lab presents Toast, a new play by acclaimed poet and playwright Lemon Andersen of Def Poetry Jam. The play honors the spoken word narratives recited in pool halls, bars and prisons by generations of black poets. Running for a limited time in the Off-Broadway venue's intimate space, the cast is led by Broadway vet Keith David. Performances set to conclude May 10.
May 6: The City Center Encores! concert series will present the classic musical Zorba! with "Big Lebowski" star John Turturro in the title role. Helmed by the Tony-winning director of Chicago, Walter Bobbie, performances will run through May 10.
May 11: Signature Theatre presents the world premiere of the latest work by Athol Fugard, winner of the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Tony Award. The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek is inspired by the real life of South African artist Nukain Mabusa and is scheduled to run through May 31.
May 19: Amanda Seyfried makes her stage debut alongside Thomas Sadoski in Neil LaBute's The Way We Get By, directed by Leigh Silverman at Second Stage. The young stars play two people trying to navigate the rules of attraction, sex, society and a killer hangover. Seyfried opens up to Playbill.com about tinder, dating and dream roles on Broadway.
May 20: MCC Theater stages the world premiere of Permission by Hand to God playwright Robert Askins, starring Justin Bartha ("The Hangover") and Emmy nominee Elizabeth Reaser ("Grey's Anatomy"). The stars portray a couple whose decision to make changes to their marriage will have them questioning everything they thought they knew.

May 19: Tony Award and Emmy winner Mary-Louise Parker returns to the New York stage in Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of Heisenberg, the new play by Simon Stephens (of Curious Incident fame). Parker stars alongside fellow Emmy nominee Kenneth Welsh in this mysterious new play about a chance encounter amidst the bustle of a crowded London train station.
May 20: The Atlantic presents the world premiere of celebrated playwright and Pulitzer finalist Rajiv Joseph, Guards at the Taj, starring Tony-nominated actors Omar Metwally and Arian Moayed. Set in India in 1648, it tells the story of two guards watching the sunrise for the first time over the newly finished Taj Mahal.
May 22: Pulitzer and Tony-winning playwright Bruce Norris returns Off-Broadway with The Qualms, set at a suburban swinger's party. He teams up once again with Tony-winning director Pam MacKinnon following their acclaimed collaboration on Clybourne Park.
May 23: An all-star cast and creative team have come together for Preludes, a new musical by acclaimed musician Dave Malloy. The LCT3 production is directed by Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) and stars Tony winners Nikki M. James and Gabriel Ebert.
May 29: "Sex and the City" and "The Good Wife" star Chris Noth takes on Christopher Marlow's title role in Doctor Faustus at Classic Stage Company, playing the man who sells his soul to the devil, but at a price.
