Miranda Priestly doesn't like to move at a glacial pace—but even the editor-in-chief of Runway has to deal with pandemic-related schedule changes. The Broadway-aimed stage adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada will now hold its world premiere engagement July 19–August 21, 2022, at the James L. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago.
The show features music by Elton John, lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub, a book by Paul Rudnick, music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo, and direction by Anna D. Shapiro. Producing with Kevin McCollum are Rocket Entertainment, with the production presented by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical.
Show delays have become the derigueur operations for theatres around the world as of late due to the coronavirus. Dr. Anthony Fauci said as recently as this week that theatres may be able to re-open in fall of this year.

The Blackburn prize-winning playwright shared news of the move made in response to allegations of racism against the Chicago theatre's board of directors on Instagram.
The move comes after the resignation of the theatre's 2020 cohort, along with its artistic director and board chair, citing similar allegations about a lack of transparency and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
The regional theatre’s 2021–2022 season, with a mix of virtual and live programming, spotlights works by such ensemble members as Tina Landau and Tarell Alvin McCraney.
The lineup also includes a new Seagull, a Tarell Alvin McCraney-Robert O'Hara collaboration, and plays by Vichet Chum, Donnetta Lavinia Grays, and Bess Wohl.
