Steven Pinder Returns to London Cast of Wicked October 24

Steven Pinder, best known for his award-winning performance as Max Farnham in Phil Redmond’s Brookside, steps into the role of Doctor Dillamond in the London company of Wicked October 24 at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

The actor, whose recent stage credits include Notes from a Small Island, Funny Money, and Two Into One, previously played Dillamond in 2015.

Pinder succeeds Simeon Truby, who played his final performance October 22. Truby departed the West End production to play both Doctor Dillamond and The Wizard in the forthcoming U.K. and Ireland tour of the international hit musical, which will launch in December starring the previously announced Laura Pick as Elphaba and Carl Man as Fiyero.

The London company features Alexia Khadime as Elphaba, Lucy St. Louis as Glinda, Ryan Reid as Fiyero, Sophie-Louise Dann as Madame Morrible, Mark Curry as The Wizard, Caitlin Anderson as Nessarose, Joe Thompson-Oubari as Boq, Amy Webb as Standby for Elphaba, and Lisa-Anne Wood as Standby for Glinda.

The ensemble includes Yuki Abe, Kofi Aidoo-Appiah, Conor Ashman, Jessica Aubrey, Joshua Clemetson, Fergus Dale, Effie Rae Dyson, Nicola Espallardo, Danny Fogarty, Ross Harmon, Kate Leiper, Nick Len, Jemima Loddy, Joshua Lovell, PaddyJoe Martin, Millie Mayhew, Harry Mills, Daniel Parrott, Aiesha Naomi Pease, Jeanie Ryan, Natalie Spriggs, James Titchener, Micaela Todd, Christine Tucker, Jaydon Vijn, and Taela Yeomans-Brown.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the musical is based on the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire.

The Joe Mantello-helmed production features musical staging by Wayne Cilento, scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Tony Meola, projections by Elaine J. McCarthy, wig and hair design by Tom Watson, music supervision and arrangements by Stephen Oremus, orchestrations by William David Brohn, and dance arrangements by James Lynn Abbott.

The hit Broadway production of Wicked continues at the Gershwin Theatre; the musical recently became the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history. The Broadway staging celebrates its 20th anniversary this month.
