Kafkaesque!, a new musical mash-up of the stories of Franz Kafka, is readying to make its world premiere Off-Broadway at 154 Christopher Street, with performances running October 18-November 15. Full casting has been revealed, along with the creative team bringing the production to the stage.
With a book, music, and lyrics by James Harvey, Kafkaesque! transplants the predicaments from Kafka's stories (including The Trial and The Metamorphosis) onto one contemporary American family. The work played a developmental run at 2023's New York Theater Festival.
Joining the previously announced Harvey as Kafka will be Alexander Nader as Greta, Josh Nasser as Michael, Emily Olcott as Karen and Josephine, and Curry Whitmire as Gregor.
Ashley Brooke Monroe is directing, leading a creative team that will include choreographer Sara Gibbons, scenic designer Taylor Friel, costume designer Maggie Walsh, and lighting designer Bentley Heydt.
Patrick Trettenero and Staro Industries are producing.
