Rockers on Broadway's 31st annual concert, themed Back in Time, is presented October 28 at 8 PM at New York's Sony Hall.
The evening honors rock legend Huey Lewis and music historian and former musician Peter Bradley, Jr. Lewis, the Grammy-winning front man of Huey Lewis and The News, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Bradley, a longtime board member of The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation, is this year’s Ambassador of Rock honoree.
Scheduled to perform at the one-night-only event are James Carpinello (Little Shop of Horrors), Christine Dwyer (Waitress), singer-songwriter Izabelle Gottfried, F. Michael Haynie (The Heart of Rock and Roll), Tamika Lawrence (The Heart of Rock and Roll), Donnie Kehr (The Who’s Tommy), Lauren “Lolo” Pritchard (Spring Awakening), Daniel Quadrino (The Who’s Tommy), Ryann Redmond (Once Upon a One More Time), Max Sangerman (A Beautiful Noise), Nik Walker (Spamalot), Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages), Keirsten Hodgens (Six), Marissa Rosen (Water for Elephants), and Pomme Koch (The Band's Visit) plus Hadar Baron, Sam Graham, Emily Pandal, and Nick Prez. Singer-songwriter Alexa Ray Joel and The Voice's Jackie Romeo are the evening's special guests.
The concert will feature the work of Lewis as well as other artists
who have bridged the worlds of rock and Broadway. Last season, Lewis'
work was featured in The Heart of Rock and Roll and Back to the Future; the latter continues at the Winter Garden.
The evening is presented by The PATH Fund, a leading nonprofit dedicated to performing arts education. Proceeds will benefit a consortium of charities, including Broadway Bound Kids, Broadway Cares, The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation, The Felix Organization, Teen Cancer America, and The PATH Fund.
“We are thrilled to return to Sony Hall once again this year for our next installment of Rockers on Broadway,” said Cori Gardner, co-founder and executive producer of The PATH Fund, in an earlier statement. “Our two wonderful honorees, Huey Lewis and Peter Bradley, Jr., have both contributed so much to the industry, and we’re so happy to have them on board to help make this a special evening.”
Donnie Kehr, creator of Rockers on Broadway, added, “I am so excited to have Huey with us this year, he is one of my rock & roll heroes. Not only is he a great singer-songwriter, but he is also a truly badass blues harmonica player.”
