Reviews are in from critics for David Yazbek and Itamar Moses’ Tony-winning The Band's Visit, which opened its U.K. premiere October 6 at Donmar Warehouse. The production, directed by Donmar's Artistic Director Michael Longhurst, began previews September 26 for a run through December 3.
Alon Moni Aboutboul (Snowfall) leads the cast as Tewfiq opposite seven-time winner of the Israeli Female Singer of the Year Award Miri Mesika as Dina.

Based on the screenplay by Eran Kolirin, The Band's Visit has music and lyrics by Yazbek and a book by Moses. Winner of 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the story follows a group of musicians from Israel who become lost upon their arrival in Egypt.
The production features musical supervision by Nigel Lilley, design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting design by Anna Watson, sound design by Paul Groothuis, choreography, movement and intimacy direction by Yarit Dor, musical direction by Tarek Merchant, cultural consultation by Dr. Lina Khatib, and Arabic music consultation by Attab Haddad. Caitlin Stegemoller serves as dialect coach while Orr Benezra-Segal serves as associate director.
Assistant creative team members include Natalie Pound, Dadiow Lin, Lucy Sneddon, Cat Salvini, and Daberechi Ukoha-Kalu. Casting is by Anna Cooper.
