The crossover between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Broadway community continues to grow. Screen and stage actor F. Murray Abraham has been cast in the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight. This news comes after Hamilton alum Anthony Ramos was reportedly cast in Marvel's upcoming Ironheart series.
Academy Award winner Abraham (Amadeus) will voice Khonshu, an ancient Egyptian Moon God. The news was recently confirmed by the streamer on its official media site.
Created by Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four), Moon Knight will consist of six episodes, each under 60 minutes—much like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The miniseries will follow the title character, played by Oscar Isaac, as his dissociative identity disorder leads him to become a conduit for Khonshu. Starring alongside Abraham and Issac in the miniseries is Tony nominee Ethan Hawke and the late actor Gaspard Thomas Ulliel.
Moon Knight marks veteran actor Abraham's Marvel debut. Abraham, whose numerous stage credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream, Twelfth Night, and Macbeth, was most recently seen on stage in 2018 when he starred in Tony winner David Rabe's Good for Otto. Since then, Abraham has been starring in the Apple TV workplace comedy Mythic Quest and the Netflix horror movie Things Heard & Seen.
Moon Knight is scheduled to debut March 30 with new episodes dropping weekly. Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk are expected to follow.
