Pasadena Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Gloria Calderón Kellett's comedy One of the Good Ones. The production will run March 13-April 7, and marks the Playhouse's first commission of a Latine playwright.
The company is led by Lana Parrilla (Once Upon a Time) as Ilana and Carlos Gomez (In the Heights) as Enrique, with Isabella Gomez (One Day at a Time) as Yoli, Nico Greetham (Newsies) as Marcos, and Santino Jimenez (One Day at a Time) as Pedro. Casting is by RBT Casting's Ryan Bernard Tymensky.
One of the Good Ones follows Ilana, the "perfect" Latine daughter, as she brings her boyfriend home to meet the parents.
The creative team includes scenic designer Tanya Orellana, costume designer Denitsa Bliznakova, lighting designer Jaymi Lee Smith, sound designers Jeff Gardner and Andrea Allmond, production stage manager David S. Franklin, and assistant stage manager Miriam Mendoza.
Pasadena Playhouse, the Official State Theater of California, received this year's Regional Theatre Tony Award. The company has been under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman since 2016. The current season also includes Jelly's Last Jam, Inherit the Wind, The Sound Inside, and comedian Kate Berlant's solo show KATE.
