Joaquina Kalukango, Freestyle Love Supreme, and Moulin Rouge! The Musical
Joaquina Kalukango, 2022 Tony winner for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her performance in the new Broadway musicalParadise Square, is among the performers on NBC’s Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, broadcast July 4 at 8 PM ET (check local listings). The Independence Day celebration will also stream on Peacock with an encore presentation on NBC at 10 PM ET.
Kalukango will perform an arrangement of “My Country, 'Tis of Thee” and “America the Beautiful” during the Macy’s Golden Mile fireworks display, where thousands of golden-hued shells will create a cascading effect stretching for more than a mile across the East River.
Everyday heroes and celebrity guests—including Craig Ferguson, Padma Lakshmi, Paulina Porizkova, and Wolfgang Puck—share their inspirational stories about what it means to live in the U.S. in a series of segments called “The American Spirit.” And, this year’s fireworks display launches more than 48,000 shells and effects from five barges positioned between 23rd Street and 42nd Street on the East River.
Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular is a production of Universal Television in association with Macy’s and is produced by Brad Lachman Productions with Lachman and Bill Bracken serving as executive producers.
