New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, in collaboration with Dramatists Guild, hosts The Dramatist Guild Presents: An Evening with John Weidman September 15 at 6 PM.
Jeanine Tesori (Kimberly Akimbo) sits down with John Weidman (Assassins, Pacific Overtures) to discuss his work and collaborations with late composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim over the years.
The program is one of two being presented concurrently with the release of The Dramatist magazine's special Sondheim issue, guest edited by Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton). Sondheim: The Man, The Mentor, and His Music with lyricist Amanda Green (Mr. Saturday Night), composer Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years), and composer Tom Kitt (Almost Famous) will follow October 17.
Registration for Sondheim: The Man, The Mentor, and His Music is being offered first to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students studying playwriting, musical theatre writing, and musical composition via ZohoPublic.com. Tickets for the general public will be made available at a later date.
