Casting is complete for the Keen Company's Off-Broadway world premiere of Peter Gil-Sheridan's This Space Between Us, which will begin previews February 22 prior to an official opening March 9 at Theatre Row. Performances will continue through April 2.

Helmed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein, the cast will feature Glynis Bell (The Ferryman), Alex Chester (Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!), Joyce Cohen (Women Without Men), Ryan Garbayo (The Government Inspector), Tommy Heleringer (Minor Character: Six Translations of Uncle Vanya at the Same Time), and Anthony Ruiz (Implications of Cohabitation).

In the new comedy Jamie (Garbayo) wants to leave his cushy law office to work for a non-profit. His best friend is confused, his boyfriend is concerned, and his conservative Cuban-American family are sure they know what’s best.

“The last several years have left me asking the question, 'What am I doing in this world apart from earning money, drinking, ogling boys, and doom scrolling? Really, what is anyone doing? My conservative Cuban family? My liberal friends? And why do I feel so alone?' These questions are at the heart of my new comedy about one man trying to find a purpose in an increasingly absurd American landscape,” says Latine playwright Gil-Sheridan, a founding member of pop-up theatre company The Pool.

The production will feature scenic design by Steven Kemp, costumes by Rodrigo Muñoz, lighting by Daisy Long, sound by Luqman Brown, and props by Addison Heeren. Casting is by Bass/Valle Casting with dramaturgy by Jeremy Stoller. Avery Trunko serves as production stage manager.

Talkbacks with the cast, creators, and special guests (to be announced) will take place following performances on March 17, 24, and 31.

Proof of vaccination will be required. All patrons must be fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to their performance date, and masks must be worn inside the building at all times. For more information, click here.
