The Broadway premiere of Hillary and Clinton will close earlier than planned at the John Golden Theatre. The new comedy, penned by Tony-nominated playwright Lucas Hnath (A Doll’s House, Part 2) and directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello, will play its final performance June 23 instead of the initially announced July 21.

In Hillary and Clinton, which opened on Broadway April 18, the politics of marriage, gender roles, and the limitations of experience are examined. The play offers a behind-the-scenes look at a former First Lady named Hillary's 2008 presidential campaign. Tony and Emmy winner Laurie Metcalf stars as Hillary (earning a Tony nomination for her performance) alongside fellow Tony and Emmy winner John Lithgow as Bill.

Rounding out the Broadway cast are Zak Orth as campaign manager Mark and Peter Francis James as Barack.

A Scott Rudin production, Hillary and Clinton features scenic design by Chloe Lamford, costume design by Rita Ryack, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, and sound design by Leon Rothenberg. Casting is by Caparelliotis Casting; David L. Arsenault is associate scenic designer.

Hillary and Clinton premiered at Chicago's Victory Gardens Theater in 2016 before heading to Philadelphia, Richmond, and Dallas.
