Previews begin at Charing Cross Theatre for the newly reimagined production's return.

Newly re-imagined Zorro The Musical begins previews April 2 at London's Charing Cross Theatre featuring the return of Benjamin Purkiss as Diego and Zorro. The production opens April 12.

Set in 1805 California, the musical follows masked folk hero Zorro's return from Spain to fight his home's autocratic leader. The immersive production features songs by Gipsy Kings including "Bamboleo," "Baila Me," and "Djobi Djoba," as well as flamenco dancing and Cante jondo singing.

The cast also features Alex Gibson-Giorgio as Ramon, Paige Fenlon as Luisa, Pete Ashmore as Don Alejandro, Phoebe Panaretos as Inez, and Marc Pickering as Garcia. Returning to the company are Amy Bastani, Isobel Bates, Ben Boskovic, Matthew Heywood, Jessica Pardoe, and Stylianos Thomadakis joined by new ensemble members Ajjaz Awad, Matthew Bugg, Jessica Lim, Hannah Woodward, and Maxwell Griffin.

Zorro features a book by Helen Edmundson and Stephen Clark, music by Gipsy Kings, original music by John Cameron, lyrics by Stephen Clark, and orchestrations by Nick Barstow. Christian Durham directs alongside a creative team comprising choreographer Cressida Carré, music director Barstow, set and costume designer Rosa Maggiora, sound designer Andrew Johnson, lighting designer Matthew Haskins, and fight director Renny Krupinski. Jane Deitch is casting director and Chris Matanlé is general manager.

The production is presented by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment and John Gertz in association with Zorro USA, LLC along with Bonnie Comley & Stewart F. Lane and Linda Bernardi. The previously announced return engagement follows a 2020 run at Manchester's Hope Mill Theatre that was cut short.
