Robert Icke's Hamlet officially opens June 28 at Off-Broadway's Park Avenue Armory. Previews began June 10 for the director's contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy, which will run through August 13 in repertory with Icke's adaptation of Aeschylus' Oresteia.

Alex Lawther stars in the title role, with Tony winner Jennifer Ehle as Gertrude, Angus Wright as Claudius, Olivier winner Luke Treadaway as Laertes, Kirsty Rider as Ophelia, Peter Wight as Polonius, Joshua Higgott as Horatio, Tia Bannon as Guildenstern, Calum Finlay as Rosencrantz, and Michael Abubakar as Marcellus.

David Rintoul, Hara Yannas, Gilbert Kyem Jr., Ross Waiton, and Marty Cruikshank complete the cast with Higgott and Finlay also serving as understudies for Hamlet and Laertes, respectively.

The creative team behind the productions features director Icke, set and costume designer Hildegard Bechtler, lighting designer Natasha Chivers, and sound designer Tom Gibbons. Video is by Tal Yarden. Icke's interpretations of Hamlet and Oresteia both made their world premieres at London's Almeida Theatre.

Lia Williams was set to play Gertrude, but had to depart the production following an injury. Cruickshank, Finlay, Higgott, Rintoul, Wight, and Wright all starred in the original Almeida Theatre production of Hamlet where Icke's Oresteia also premiered. However, the Park Avenue Armory productions are the first time his adaptations of the two family dramas will be performed in repertory together.
