SEEKING:
Tim Finnegan. CAST. (Male-identifying; 30s-40s) - Charismatic, Irish. The Smuggler is a ‘Thriller in Rhyme’ one man show. It's 2023. Tim Finnegan is an Irish immigrant trying to make it as a writer on Amity, an affluent summer colony in Massachusetts, where tensions flare between the migrant and local communities after a fatal car crash. When he loses his job as a bartender, Tim gets drawn into the dark underbelly of the island. The Smuggler examines how far one man will go to restore his self-respect and asks the question, "What does it mean to be an American citizen today?"

Sherlock Holmes: The World’s Foremost Consulting Detective, in decline.

Ebenezer Scrooge: Formerly a miser. One Christmas, Scrooge transformed into as good a man as the good old city ever knew. (Also is noted as A GHOSTLY VOICE.)

TRACK One: CAST. Portrays the following:
Dr. Timothy Cratchit. Tiny Tim, all grown up. Now, a doctor at St. Bernard’s Hospital for Children. He speaks with a more refined accent than his sister.
Mr. Topper. The manager of the Cosmopolitan Hotel. A bit older, a bit pompous. Easily irritated. Supposedly a friend of Fred, Scrooge’s nephew.
Ralph Fezziwig. A nervous, wiry young man. The misfit member of a proud family. Engaged to Fannie.
Constable Bradstreet. A seemingly upstanding member of Scotland yard.

TRACK Two: Portrays the following:
Emma Wiggins. A good-spirited and brace 13-year-old, she is a former Baker Street Irregular.
Fan “Fannie” Gardner. Scrooge’s grandniece. A refined young woman, she works backstage at the theatre in the Cosmopolitan Hotel. Engaged to Ralph Fezziwig.
Inspector Lestrade. Blustery, easily confounded member of the Scotland Yard. He has grudging respect for Holmes.
Mrs. Windigate. A Scottish tavern-keeper and member of the Goose Club. Giggle, a whirlwind.

TRACK Three: Portrays the following:
Dr. Watson. Sherlock Holmes’ best and most loyal friend. The Boswell to Holmes’ Johnson.
Mrs. Dilber. Mr. Scrooge’s housekeeper of over 30 years. An emotional creature with a connection to the spiritual realm.
Henry Burke. An Irish candlemaker, an old friend of Mr. Scrooge.
Old Joe Brackenridge. The owner of Old Joe’s in Convent Garden. Gruff, a born salesman.

TRACK Four: Portrays the following:
Caroler. A cheerful person in the street.
Elderly Woman. A London lady.
The Countess of Morcar. American. An old love of Holmes’ who also goes by another name, Irene Adler.
Martha Cratchit. Tough and a bit lower-class than her brother. She is as smart and observant as any detective she might happen to meet.
Mary Morstan. Watson’s elegant and brace wife.
Abigail “Abby” Fezziwig. Runs a business fattening geese for market. She is no-nonsense and direct – a proud member of the hardworking Fezziwig family.

SEEKING:
Dr. Thomas Stockmann (middle to late 30s) Doctor/Writer/Activist. Radical, uncompromising, intelligent, idealistic. Believes his way of thinking is the only way to cure the social catastrophe, facing his town. Sings in a band, playing an instrument useful.

Katherina Stockmann (middle to late 30s) Teacher, mother, activist. Level-headed, generous, much more practical than Thomas. Worried about her family. Sings in a band, playing an instrument useful. Peter Stockmann (45-55) Thomas’ older more conservative brother, Mayor of the town. Cunning, manipulative, a compromiser, a schemer.

Hovstad (late 30s) Editor of the local newspaper. A would be activist and friend and patron to Thomas. Looking for the one cause that will earn him public renown. Sings in a band, playing an instrument useful.

Billing (30s) Writer at the newspaper, friend to Thomas, many qualities similar to Hovstad, but more open to overt political compromise. Changes sides easily. Sings in a band, playing an instrument useful.

Nina Aslaksen (mid to late 40s) Publisher of the newspaper. Pragmatic. A political player.

Morten Kiil (55-60) Father to Katherina. Critical of the town’s politicians. Industrialist. Thinks in transactional terms. Open to all economic opportunities.

THE UNDERPANTS by Steve Martin; Adapted from Carl Sternheim

SEEKING:
Theo Maske. Described as “a burly, muscular fireplug with a buzz cut,” Theo is a civil servant who is obsessed with being in control of his middle-class life. He likes the house clean; the clock wound and maintains a cool relationship with his pretty wife, even delaying love making until they can afford to have a child.

Louise Maske. Very pretty and in her mid-twenties ̧ Theo’s wife is a romantic dreamer who feels hurt that her husband is not intimate with her physically or emotionally. Relegated to being a wife and homemaker, she is bored and trapped like the caged bird in her apartment.

Gertrude Deuter. Forty-two and a busybody, Gertrude is Louise’s friend who considers herself a hopeless old maid and tries to satisfy her sexual and romantic longings by living vicariously through her young friend. She urges Louise to have an affair with Versati, promises to help her conceal the truth, and even sews Louise more alluring underpants. Her loyal friendship is tested by her own chance for an amorous liaison.

Frank Versati. An elegant gentleman who is proud of being an unpublished poet, Versati declares himself passionately and permanently in love with Louise, but when given the chance to consummate their relationship, he writes a poem instead. Afterwards, he soon finds a new object for his ardor.

Benjamin Cohen. Sickly, thin, 35, and asthmatic, Cohen is a barber who insists he’s not Jewish. He is also the other jealous suitor of Louise, a “prophylactic” who plans to prevent her union with Versati. Although Cohen is disrespected for his physical weakness, he is actually a voice of reason and the one person who is able to appraise himself and the other characters. Klinglehoff. An elderly scientist, Klinglehoff is orderly and moralistic.
