Transcendence Theatre Company is actively seeking diverse and inclusive casting for each

PREPARATION

1-2 minute musical cut (clearly marked for the accompanist provided) that showcases your

vocal range, conveys strong emotions, bold presence, and a clear, bright sound. You may

sing from the show if you'd like. You may be asked to read from the show. Also be

prepared for a brief 'artistic' interview. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

Carole King - An aspiring singer/songwriter. A unique, appealing, funny and vulnerable girl from a Jewish family in Brooklyn. Talented, good natured, unassuming and often the peace maker in difficult situations. A reluctant star with no pretense and a passion for music. Gender: Female. Age: 18-30. Vocal Range Top: Eb5. Gerry Goffin - Carole's boyfriend, songwriting partner and eventual husband. Innately sympathetic, wounded and tortured. An ambitious artist always striving for more. Gender: Male. Age: 18-30. Vocal Range Top: A4. Vocal Range Bottom: D3

Barry Mann - A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Cynthia. He is good natured, appealing & neurotic. Ambitious, but likeable. Gender: Male. Age 18-30. Vocal range top: A4. Vocal Range bottom: C3

Cynthia Weil - A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Barry. Carole's best friend. She is sophisticated, smart & chic with quick wit. Although elf-confident and sarcastic, she is also extremely likeable. Gender: Female. Age: 18-30. Vocal range top: E5. Vocal Range Bottom: G3.

Don Kirschner - An influential music publisher and producer. He is fast talking, energetic force of nature. Powerful, direct & sometimes intimidating, but he has a real affinity for his writers and artists. A

Genie Klein - Carole's Jewish mother. Once an apsiring playwright, she has been broken down by life & her husbands infidelity. Protective of Carole and unforgiving of her husband's mistakes.
