Position: Associate Wardrobe Manager

Location: Charleston, SC

Salary: $60,000+ commensurate with experience. Travel to tour will be compensated at a higher rate.

Position Overview:

The Associate Wardrobe Manager will support the Wardrobe Manager with wardrobe logistics for all touring productions, rental requests, and warehouse stock management. This position’s workflow will vary by the time of year and priorities will shift based on the needs of each touring production – pre-tech preparation, tech rehearsals, the tour, and the closing period.

The Associate Wardrobe Manager will also act as WLP’s Production Wardrobe for assigned shows during the prep and tech process as well as cover on the road wardrobe crew. This position will operate primarily out of the Charleston-based warehouse where all production and wardrobe stock is stored; in addition it will require significant travel for technical rehearsals, crew coverage, and load-in assistance as necessary.

The Associate Wardrobe Manager will report directly to the Wardrobe Manager and will assist the Production Operations Manager, Production Managers, and Vice President of Production as required.

Primary Duties:

Support the Wardrobe Manager and Production Team on tours currently in operation as well as any upcoming tours to open. Duties include but are not limited to:

Show Specific Duties:

- Pre-Tech wardrobe prep for assigned production.
- Prepare and stock workboxes and wardrobe gondolas for each production.
- Assist in setting up the wardrobe prep space.
- Assist in scheduling wardrobe fittings as well as assist during fittings.
- Assist in preparing the costume package for tech.
- Assist in placing orders as needed and managing all receipts.

Tech Rehearsal Period:

- Manage receipts during tech rehearsal period.
- Replenish wardrobe perishables as needed.
- Create and maintain all show-specific wardrobe paperwork.
- Create manifests as needed for shipments; solicit box lists from each production and supervise box labeling during the tech period for each tour.
- Fill in for dresser tracks during tech as needed.

Operating Responsibilities:

- Cover on the road wardrobe crew; this would include scheduled vacations, emergency coverage and any necessary check-ins.
- Assist with costume bible assembly for each production.
- Attend weekly production and crew meetings as necessary.
- Maintain supplier lists for all productions.
- Assist in purchasing, collecting and preparing wardrobe supplies for shipments.
- Create wardrobe bill back records for each production.
- Assist with any design, display, or rental requests as they emerge.
- Assist with production closing logistics.

Wardrobe Maintenance Duties:

- Maintain the wig and wardrobe warehouse inventory for all productions.
- Maintain warehouse office supplies.
- Maintain warehouse electronics such as wig dryers, irons, steamers, sewing machines, and sergers.
- Assist with loading and unloading of production and equipment on trucks.
- Lead local labor crews in moving and transporting stock within the warehouse.
- Create necessary paperwork for marketing and rental requests.

Qualifications:

- Experience in all areas of costuming including wardrobe supervision & running wardrobe tracks as well knowledge in draping/patterning, sewing, dye/craftwork, sewing knit fabrics/dancewear.
- Interest in touring theater and being open and available to cover crew tracks on touring productions.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50lbs with or without assistance and/or reasonable accommodation.
- Licensed driver.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and Google Suite preferred.
- Self motivated, organized and detail oriented with the ability to remain flexible with moving deadlines.
