Assistant to the Artistic Director, at Lincoln Center Theater

Lincoln Center Theater has produced over 200 plays and musicals at the Vivian Beaumont, Mitzi E. Newhouse, and Claire Tow Theaters at Lincoln Center and other theaters on and off-Broadway, as well as touring productions nationally and around the world.  LCT is committed to developing and producing new works and classics with an emphasis on the work of new and emerging playwrights, directors, and designers. LCT’s education program, Open Stages, reaches thousands of public-school students annually with curriculum-related projects, teaching artist support, and tickets to LCT productions.

Position Summary:

The Assistant to the Artistic Director provides administrative and creative support to the Artistic Director, ensuring the smooth operation of artistic projects, productions, and day-to-day functions. This role involves collaborating with multiple departments, coordinating schedules, managing communications, and assisting with the development and execution of artistic vision.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Administrative Support:

  • Manage the Artistic Director’s calendar, including scheduling meetings, appointments, and rehearsals.
  • Handle correspondence, phone calls, emails, and other communications on behalf of the Artistic Director.
  • Maintain and organize files related to productions, projects, and other artistic endeavors.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, itineraries, and accommodations for the Artistic Director. 

Project and Event Coordination:

  • Help develop and track timelines for artistic projects and initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Artistic Director and other departments, ensuring smooth communication and project flow.
  • Monitor the progress of artistic projects and report back to the Artistic Director with updates or concerns.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating special events.
  • Provide research and creative input as required by the Artistic Director.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Artistic Director to support the organization’s artistic mission.

Position Requirements and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Performing Arts, or related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or production role within the performing arts or theater industry.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other productivity software.
  • Strong interest in the performing arts and creative processes.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position with an annual salary range of $60,000-$64,000. Lincoln Center Theater provides comprehensive benefits including: Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 403(b) and Employer Match, and Paid Time Off.
