DESCRIPTION

Dicken's Classic A Christmas Carol [adapted by Richard Mazda] seeks strong, actors with either authentic or decent English accents. Directed by Jordan Schneider and Produced by Richard Mazda for the Secret Theatre.

In this adaptation, there are songs during nephew Fred's Party, one song during The Cratchitts scenes, and then a simple finale dance followed by three Christmas songs, however this not a musical but rather a play with music.

Charles Dickens/Old Joe — A male 40+ who is preferably able to do both an upper-class and lower-class English accent. Comic timing for the Old Joe scene and a more patrician approach for Dickens who is the narrator

Fred/Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come - Scrooge's nephew. Young, male 20-35. Affable and friendly, Fred tries hard to get Scrooge to celebrate Christmas but is not above telling some harmless jokes at his Uncle's expense. Doubles as The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come

First Charity Worker/Party guest - Male 20+ is young, enthusiastic, and idealistic. The Charity worker is shocked at Scrooge's mean-spirited rebuff when he pleads for the Poor.

Elsie/Charwoman/Party Guest - FEmale 20's+ Comedic role, must have serviceable London accent.

The rehearsal process is very short with perhaps 7- 10 rehearsals and we need people to be free of commitments in December. If you were planning a trip home for Christmas our last show is a matinee on Sunday 22nd meaning it's feasible to travel on Sunday Eve or 23rd and 24th. No shows after Christmas

The show goes up December 12th and closes on December 22nd. Rehearsals will be at our theatre in Woodside or at our Sunnyside studios.
