Pulitzer and Tony winner Michael R. Jackson's upcoming new musical White Girl in Danger, soon to have a world premiere run via a co-production between Off-Broadway's Second Stage and Vineyard Theatre beginning in March 2023, will get a special preview at Williamstown Theatre Festival's 2022 Gala, set for November 7 at City Winery in NYC. A Strange Loop cast member John-Michael Lyles will be joined by Latoya Edwards to sing the song.

Also performing at the benefit will be Greg Naughton, Alex Edelman, Christopher Fitzgerald, James Naughton, Steven Pasquale, and Phillipa Soo. Kris Kukul will be the evening's music director.

Gala tickets will include a cocktail reception and dinner in addition to the performance, with $75 performance-only tickets also available. Proceeds from the evening will support the Festival, which operates in the Berkshires each summer.

Described as a "fever dream mashup of classic daytime and primetime soap operas, Lifetime movies, and red-hot melodrama," White Girl in Danger follows the citizens of Allwhite, a town filled with drama and intrigue worthy of a daytime soap opera. Keesha Gibbs and the other Blackgrounds have been relegated to backburner stories of slavery and police violence for all of theirs. Keesha is determined to step out of the Blackground and into the center of Allwhite’s juiciest stories.

Jackson originally developed the new musical at Vineyard Theatre as part of a multi-year residency. The musical also held developmental readings at New York Stage and Film in 2021.

Jackson's A Strange Loop received 11 Tony nominations, winning the 2022 Tony Award for Best Musical with Jackson taking home the Tony for Best Book.
