Amy Berryman’s Walden, directed by Whitney White (Jaja's African Hair Braiding), has been added to Second Stage Theater’s upcoming season.

Presented by arrangement with Seaview and Soto Production, previews will begin October 16 prior to an official opening November 7 at Off-Broadway's Tony Kiser Theater. The production replaces the previously announced staging of Donald MarguliesLunar Eclipse, which has been moved to spring 2025 with Kate Whoriskey directing to accommodate Reed Birney's schedule.

Walden, set in the near future, follows Stella and her fiancé Bryan, who are waiting at their cabin for Stella’s estranged twin sister, Cassie. Raised by their astronaut father to be NASA scientists, the twins have taken different paths: Cassie has just returned from a successful moon mission, while Stella has left NASA behind. When they reunite, old conflicts reignite, forcing the sisters to choose between staying on Earth or pursuing a future in space.

Casting and additional creative team members will be announced at a later date.

Walden received its world premiere, presented by Sonia Friedman Productions, in May 2021 at London's Harold Pinter Theatre, followed by its American premiere at TheatreWorks in Hartford, Connecticut, in August 2021.

Second Stage’s fall season will also include the New York debut of Leslye Headland’s Cult of Love, directed by Trip Cullman, at Broadway's Hayes Theater.
