Before the musical adaptation of Pretty Woman makes its way to Broadway, check out a montage of the world premiere, playing at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre through April 15, in the video above.
The clip features Tony winner Steve Kazee (Once) as Edward and Samantha Barks (Eponine in Les Misérables on stage and screen) as Vivian. In the Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance number, the two take in a performance at the opera, musicalizing a key moment in the 1990 romantic comedy.
Watch: WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE BROADWAY-BOUND PRETTY WOMAN
Performances will begin at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre July 20 prior to an official opening August 16. The cast also includes Eric Anderson, Jason Danieley, Kingsley Leggs, and Orfeh. Jerry Mitchell will direct and choreograph the musical, which features a book by J.F. Lawton and the late Garry Marshall (who both worked on the movie).
Like the movie, the show follows Vivian—a Hollywood Boulevard prostitute with dreams of a better life—and Edward, a prominent businessman. What begins as a transaction blossoms into a true romance and journey of self-discovery.
