Video Watch Shaina Taub's New Music Video 'Last Song on Earth'

The track is the second single from the Devil Wears Prada lyricist's upcoming album Songs of the Great Hill.

Shaina Taub has dropped a climate change anthem titled "Last Song on Earth," accompanied with an animated music video. This is the second single released from the singer-songwriter and composer's first Atlantic Records album, Songs of the Great Hill, scheduled to release April 1. Watch the music video above.

"I wrote 'The Last Song on Earth' last fall as the election was looming and it became a protest song disguised as an apocalyptic party song. It’s imagining the last day on Earth but also acknowledging that we’re not quite there yet; there’s still time to change things," shares Taub.

Her upcoming album was written amid the COVID-19 pandemic and produced by Grammy nominee Josh Kaufman (The National). It also contains the single “The Least," which is currently available across all music streaming services.

In addition to Songs of the Great Hill, Taub is working on multiple theatrical productions. Suffs, her original musical, is set to premiere at The Public Theatre’s Newman Theater March 10. In addition to writing the musical, Taub will be taking the leading role of American women's rights activist Alice Paul. Suffs will be directed by Tony nominee Leigh Silverman (Violet) and will star Taub alongside an ensemble cast of Broadway vets, including Tony nominees Phillipa Soo (Hamilton) and Jenn Colella (Come From Away), and Tony winner Nikki M James (The Book Of Mormon).

Additionally, this year will see the Chicago premiere of the highly-anticipated musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada. With lyrics by Taub, the new musical adaptation of the film favorite will feature music by Sir Elton John, a book by Paul Rudnick (In & Out) and Kate Wetherhead (Legally Blonde), and direction by Tony winner Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County).

Another one of Taub's musical works, As You Like It, will be included in the lineup for Public Theater's 60th Anniversary season of Free Shakespeare in the Park at The Delacorte Theater in New York City's Central Park this summer. The production will see direction by Laurie Woolery and choreography by Tony winner Sonya Tayeh (Moulin Rouge!).
