Video Watch: Hamilton Marks National Voter Registration Day With Lyric Rewrite Video 'The Election of 2022'

The Broadway musical has partnered with Michelle Obama's When We All Vote on the project.

Broadway's Hamilton has released a lyric rewrite video "The Election of 2022," a new version of the musical's "The Election of 1800," to raise awareness about the importance of voting. See members of the Broadway company sing about the importance of voting rights and going to the ballot box above.

Miguel Cervantes, Tamar Greene, Aubin Wise, Lauren Boyd, Shonica GoodenRoddy Kennedy, and Gabriella Sorrentino also direct audiences to Hamilton's Ham4Progress website in the new lyrics from the show's musical director Ian Weinberger. The site helps voters understand how to register and how to vote in their state.

History meets hip-hop in the musical which follows the story of America's founding fathers with a focus on the life of Alexander Hamilton from childhood and the Revolutionary War to becoming a politician who dies at the hands of his political rival Aaron Burr. There are currently six Hamilton companies including Broadway, three North American tours, London’s West End, and Melbourne, Australia. It will also open in Hamburg, Germany next month where it will be performed in German.

Hamilton features a book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. The musical is based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography, and has won Tony​, Grammy​, and Olivier Awards, in addition to the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The production showcases scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe. Casting is by The Telsey Office's Bethany Knox, and general management is by Baseline Theatrical. Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman, and The Public Theater serve as producers.
