Comedian Lewis Black made a return to his old stomping ground, The Daily Show, February 20, with his segment Back in Black. Since 1996, Black has been bringing his comedic rants to the Comedy Central series—then hosted by Jon Stewart and now hosted by Trevor Noah.
Black made his Broadway debut in 2012 with his solo show Running on Empty and followed that up with a second Broadway outing in 2016 with Black to the Future. Prior to these, Black earned a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Solo/One-Person Show in 1998 for Black Humor. Black fell in love with theatre at a young age and attended the Yale School of Drama. A playwright (not only of his own solo shows), Black has written over 40 plays, including The Deal and One Slight Hitch, the latter of which was produced in 2011 at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. At Williamstown, Black established the William Foeller Fellowship, having taught and performed at the festival for more than a decade. He is also a long-time mentor with the 52nd Street Project, which promotes youth theatre in New York City.
Black has also been a performer on Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas cruises.
