Broadway vocal coach and performer Michael Lavine will tell stories of his work with the stars in a July 13 New York cabaret show, Michael Lavine & Friends, with help from some of his high-profile fans, including Tony Award winners Tonya Pinkins and Daisy Eagan, plus Christine Pedi and Heather MacRae.
The 7 PM performance at Feinstein’s/54 Below will highlight Lavine‘s stories about his work over the years with performers and writers including Adolph Green, Sheldon Harnick, and Hugh Martin. A portion of the proceeds from the event has been promised to the Actors Fund.
In addition to Pinkins (Caroline, Or Change), Eagan (The Secret Garden), Pedi (Talk Radio, NEWSical), and MacRae (Hair), guest performers will include Mark Blowers, Steven Brinberg, Fay DeWitt, Clarke Thorell, Carol Weiss, and surprise guests.

Lavine himself has an eclectic résumé, including conducting master classes on auditioning in New York, Los Angeles, Moscow, Bangkok, Australia, Singapore, Tokyo, Manila, Martha's Vineyard and other locations. He was music director of American musicals at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and has accompanied Bryan Batt at concert in New Orleans, San Francisco, Australia, Hollywood and at 54 Below, and the Metropolitan Room in New York. At the York Theatre in Manhattan he served as music director for Billion Dollar Baby starring Kristin Chenoweth, Marc Kudisch and Debbie Gravitte; and the Burton Lane-Alan Jay Lerner musical Carmelina.
