Denzel Washington and Viola Davis Paramount Pictures

Denzel Washington and Viola Davis won the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards for their performances in the film version of August Wilson’s play Fences, performances that had previously won Tony Awards when the actors originated them on Broadway in 2010.

Bryan Cranston, who won the 2014 Tony Award as Best Actor for his performance as President Lyndon Johnson in the Broadway play All the Way, won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries for recreating that role in the TV movie version of the play.

The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were presented January 29 at a ceremony broadcast live on TNT and TBS. Nominations were announced December 14, 2016.
